Former Lieutenant Governors of British Columbia

Lieutenant Governors are appointed by the Governor General on the recommendation of the Prime Minister of Canada and the Federal Cabinet. The appointment is for a period of not less than five years and the salary is paid by the federal government.

The first list are the Lieutenant Governors of Vancouver Island which became a separate colony on July 16, 1849 and was reincorporated into British Columbia on August 6, 1866. The second list are the Governors of the Colony of British Columbia (1813-1850) and then the Lieutenant Governors of the Colony (1850-1871) and the Province (1871-Present) of British Columbia.
